Our Church

Followers of Jodo Shinshu Teachings — rooted in tradition, open to all

The Buddhist Church of Florin is located at 7235 Pritchard Road in the southeast area of Sacramento County. BCF was established at its present location in 1919.

We are affiliated with the Buddhist Churches of America, headquartered in San Francisco, California — the oldest and largest Buddhist organization in the West. We belong to the Shin or True Pure Land sect, the largest and most popular sect in Japan.

Our mission continues to be to share the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist teachings and practice with the greater community. We offer:

  • Weekly religious services and lectures
  • Dharma study classes and library
  • Counseling, weddings, funerals, and life passage ceremonies
  • Japanese cultural classes and martial arts
  • Various social activities for all ages
  • Youth activities including Dharma School, Jr. YBA, and a full sports program

Our full-size gymnasium is a hub for community life — hosting basketball, pickleball, kendo, kyudo, and much more.

Our Sangha

A sangha is a community of practitioners. BCF is a thriving Sangha of strong, unified families and individuals dedicated to creating an environment of clear values, strong interpersonal relationships, and a foundation of Shin Buddhist spiritual and cultural connection.

All family services are performed in English. We welcome everyone — whether you are a long-time practitioner or simply curious about Buddhism and Japanese American culture.
