Building leaders in the Sangha — 8th through 12th grade
Leaping off the platform that Dharma School builds, the Junior Young Buddhist Association (JYBA) turns the focus outward — lending a hand within the community, stepping into leadership, and deepening the bonds of the Sangha.
In JYBA, youth take on a more active role in positions of leadership, guided by a mentor as they continue to grow. They may also serve as teachers to their younger peers still in Dharma School — a meaningful experience that strengthens both the mentor and the mentee.
JYBA accepts youth from 8th grade through 12th grade. Graduating members are eligible for various college scholarships offered by the church, making JYBA membership a meaningful investment in your future.
JYBA members take on meaningful roles throughout the year:
The experience builds character, confidence, and lifelong friendships. Many BCF members point to their Jr. YBA years as among the most formative of their lives.
To become a member of the BCF Jr. YBA, or to find out more information, email us at florinbuddhist@gmail.com. We welcome all students in 8th through 12th grade.
JYBA is the natural next step after Dharma School. Students who grew up learning in Dharma School bring that foundation into JYBA, where they are asked to contribute it — teaching, organizing, and serving the community they came from.
Graduating JYBA seniors may be eligible for college scholarships offered by the Buddhist Church of Florin. Active participation in Jr. YBA and BCF events, along with a written essay, are part of the application.
